We exist to bring experiences, emotions and thoughts into light. Reflection is an important part of how we do this. Taking the time to think more closely about our experiences, what we feel and what occupies our minds can help us notice things we might otherwise overlook and consider what we want to do with them.

Sometimes, reflection also involves expression. Saying something out loud or putting it into words can give form to something that previously existed only in our thoughts. Having another person listen, ask questions and respond can also bring another perspective to something we may have spent a long time considering on our own.

Infusion of Light Visuals (IL Visuals) began in 2013 through photography and film. While the work has changed over time, our purpose has remained the same. The different things we do are connected by a desire to create opportunities for reflection and bring experiences, emotions and thoughts into light.

The Person Behind IL Visuals

IL Visuals is led by founder Emmanuel Johnson.

Over the years, Emmanuel’s work has taken him through qualitative research, poetry, filmmaking and photography. Each has shaped how he listens, asks questions and finds ways to express lived experiences.

Through conversation, video, writing and research, Emmanuel creates work that gives people opportunities to reflect on their lives and bring their experiences into light.
